Everyone knows that you have to soak your wooden skewers before loading them up with yummy food and putting them on the grill, but it can be a bit of a pain to keep them submerged. Try putting them in an empty large wine bottle and filling with warm water and cork the top for about 30 minutes. They can’t float out of the water this way.
Then just before using, I like to flavor my skewers by pouring out the water, keeping the skewers inside and pour in a little flavored vinegar, a smidge of olive oil and some of your marinade spices that you’re using for your kabobs. This will season your skewers and help distribute your spices more evenly.
