I’ve gotten my love of good food and my talent for cooking from my Mom and Grandmother as I’ve told you over and over. This dessert was one of my Mom’s.
The funny part of this story has to do with my Mom’s second husband! I never warmed up to my Mom’s second husband. My Dad passed away just a few weeks shy of his 65th birthday. Mom remarried about a year later. She was very lonely and just wasn’t one of those women that adjusted well to being alone. I only ever wanted her to be happy, so I was more than alright with her remarrying – just not to the darned S.O.B. she chose! I really didn’t like him at all! The only thing I ever liked about him was this recipe passed down from his first wife (God rest her soul too)! Honestly…this is the only thing I liked about him!!!! I can laugh about the whole thing now, but OMG!! He had 2 massive strokes about 2 years into their marriage, so my poor Mom only had any fun and companionship at all for that first 2 years, and ended up his caretaker for the next 6 years until he also passed away. He almost killed her in the process! I moved my Mom in with me for the remaining years of her life. I am very thankful for those final years we had together. We both loved those years together. I had moved about 2 hours away almost right out of high school for about 12 years, and then spent the next 20 of my life pretty far away, so those last years together in South Florida were very special.
Now on to the peaches and cream… This Peach Cream Cheese Pie is super easy to make. It’s extremely light and summery. It’s always been a big hit and I’m confident you’ll be passing this recipe along as much as I have over the years.
