I’m so excited! I’m in the countdown phase and preparing for a cruise I’ve been planning on with my very dear family friend Dianne for about 6 months now. We’ll be flying to Copenhagen and embarking on the Regal Princess for an 11 day Baltic Cruise.
Our ports of call will be Oslo, Norway; Aarhus, Denmark; Berlin, Germany; Tallinn, Estonia; St. Petersburg, Russia for 2 full days and one spectacular evening; Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; and then back to Copenhagen, Denmark.
Dianne will fly back home to Massachusetts (via a stop in Reykjavik, Iceland), and I’ll be meeting up with another of my dear friends here in Ft. Lauderdale, Lizzie, who is Danish and will be visiting her family there. I’m being treated with an additional six day stay with Lizzie and her daughter and family in the heart of Copenhagen. I keep pinching myself to be sure I’m not dreaming! Lizzie and I have been trying to coordinate one of her visits home with me catching up with her for a portion of her bi-annual visits now for years. We’ve finally managed to coordinate our vacations!
I’ve been studying a lot about the local cuisines, and I can’t wait! I plan on keeping a daily journal that will catalog our day’s sightseeing excursions along with the local cuisine we will be fortunate enough to enjoy (and maybe a few dishes not so much)! I’ll also be taking tons of photographs to share with everyone.
We secured an outside suite with a balcony, so I’m planning on writing in a journal out there on the balcony every day, and I will be sharing my journal with you about about each city, its cuisine and sightseeing stops when I get home. I can’t wait to share my experiences of each city with you!
